Indiana
Gets the Victory
Indiana was
victorious on Saturday night, 8-6, over the Oakland Grizzlies. Indiana
was led by Reed Schafer, who recorded 5 goals on the night.
Friday the Hoosiers
led twice in the game by 2 goals, but the Grizzlies were able to
battle back both times and survived with a tie. Freshman Dan Karlander
led the Hoosiers with 2 goals and 2 assists and Jimmy Hugill stopped
31 out of 37 shots for the night.
Saturday, Indiana
jumped out to a 2 goal lead in the first and were able to extend
it to a 7-3 lead by the end of the second period. Reed Schafer led
the strong second period with a natural hat trick, 3 goals in a
row in the same period. For the period, Reed had 4 of the Hoosiers
5 goals and would finish the night with 5 goals of his own.
Next week, the
Hoosiers travel to Kalamazoo, MI to play the newest member of the
GMHL, the Davenport Panthers. Indiana is only 1 point behind Davenport
in the GMHL standings. The Panthers are led by JJ Price and Chad
Anguilm, who each have 27 points on the year. The Panthers goaltending
has been stellar with Eric Rupert posting a 1.68 goals against average
and a save percentage of 94% in eight games this year.
