Ties the Panthers
The Hoosiers had to come back
in the third period to gain a tie against the Davenport Panthers.
Going into the third period the Hoosiers were losing 4-2, but their
senior leaders came to the forefront and helped the Hoosiers battle
back. The tie puts the Hoosiers into sole possession of third place
in the GMHL standings and keeps them only 1 point behind Davenport.
Indiana came out strong and
riding the confidence from defeating the defending champs the previous
week. They out shot the Panthers 15-8 and led 2-1 behind goals by
freshman Chad Fiala and Captain Bill Ravensberg.
In the second period Davenport
would battle back with 3 goals, but Indiana responded in the third
with goals from Todd Lorenger and David Ravensberg. The game would
end in a 4-4 tie since the GMHL does not have overtime. Sophomore
Jimmy Hugill recorded his 2nd tie on 23 saves and Chad Fiala and
David Ravensberg each had a goal and an assist.
Tomorrow the Hoosiers will play
their second game in the series at 3:00pm against the Davenport
Panthers. They will have a chance to move into second place in the
GMHL standings, if the Hoosiers can pull out a road win.
Next week will be the Hoosiers
final weekend before the winter vacation. Indiana will have a home
and home series with their biggest rivals in college hockey, the
Miami Clubhawks. Friday's game will be at 9:00pm at the Frank and
Saturday they will play at Goggin Arena in Oxford, OH at 3:20pm.
