Hoosiers
Split with their Archrivals
The Hoosiers came out flat and
were outgunned by the Miami Clubhawks on Friday, 4-7. Saturday,
the Hoosiers found their way and manhandled the Clubhawks, 8-3.
Everything that had gone right
for the Hoosiers to date, appeared not to exist on Friday. The incredible
Hoosier discipline and penalty kill went out the window as they
let in 4 power play goals while shorthanded 13 times, the most all
season.
Sophomore Jimmy Hugill appeared
to finally be getting tired. He had played an incredible amount
of hockey for the Hoosiers. Jimmy had started 15 out of the Hoosiers
16 games to date and the amount of ice time finally caught up to
him. Three goals found their way past Jimmy in his first 10 shots.
Freshman Brien McCormick finished the night for the Hoosiers. By
the end of the night Miami would get a total of 48 shots on the
Hoosiers.
Saturday was a completely different
story. The Hoosiers power play was back to it's normal perfection.
Miami would not get one power play goal in the second game. The
Hoosiers dominating offensive power would come to life as well.
4 players would each have 3 point nights, Senior David Ravensberg,
Junior Reed Schafer, and Freshmen Dan Karlander and Chad Fiala.
Saturday also saw a change in
net for the Hoosiers. Jimmy Hugill finally got some much needed
rest. Brien McCormick got the start for the Hoosiers and stopped
29 of 32 shots in his second victory of the year.
The Hoosiers will begin the
second semester with their annual in-state rivalry series with the
Purdue Boilermakers. Friday's game will be at 9:00pm at the Frank
and Saturday they will play at The Arctic Zone in Westfield, IN
at 3:00pm.
